Brown Tree Snake

Night Tiger, Dolls Eye Snake

(Bioga Irregularis)

MILDLY VENOMOUS

Identification: Broad and pointy head is distinct from neck. Slender body with cream brown or reddish brown colour, also features red, brown or black crossbands. Eyes are distinct and large with yellow colouration.

 

Habitat: Enjoys well wooded areas from open and closed sclerophyll to rainforest habitats.

 

Diet: Birds, small mammals, small bats, frogs and lizards.

Reproduction: Up to 12 eggs laid in a clutch.

 

Danger: Mildly venomous and chewing or a bite can result in reasonable pain and medical attention is required.

 

Behaviour: When threatened it will become very defensive raising fore-body into loops and biting, sometimes repetitively.
